BARGE HIRE

Palm Island Barge Co. operates the Landing Barge 'Olympic' and has a Great Barrier Marine Park Authority Permit to operate in the partially smooth waters between Palm Island and Dunk Island.

'Olympic' is available for hire based on an Hourly or Day Rate. The Day Rate is based on a 12 Hour Day.

During the last ten years the 'Olympic' has been chartered to both government departments and commercial businesses to carry out the following projects :-

• Transshipment of Raw Materials, Plant & Equipment and Pozzolanic Cement Trucks for the Palm Island Airport Upgrade
• Installation of the Radar Monitoring Tower on Pelorus Island for Commercial Shipping
• Building Re-Construction on Dunk Island Resort after Cyclone Larry
• Transshipment of De-Mountable Buildings to Palm Island
• Transshipment of Building Modules and Building Material for upgrade on James Cook University Research Station on Pelorus Island
• Transshipment of Cattle for the Palm Island Rodeo
• Installation of Weather Monitoring Unit at Lucinda Sugar Jetty
