Contractor Vehicles

Day & Day Shipping provides a daily return Vehicle Ferry Service from Lucinda to Palm Island Monday to Saturday. Drivers travel free with the vehicle and passengers travelling in the vehicles are required to pay the same fare as Walk-On Ticketed Passengers.

Drivers and Passengers are able to vacate their vehicles during the journey to and from Palm Island, they are welcome in the upstairs wheelhouse and outdoor seating area where complimentary Tea and Coffee is available and softdrink and chips are available for purchase.
"Please note that on HMV 'Lady Fraser' this facility is not available".

Our Company Policy requires all Passengers travelling on the HMV 'Olympic' to listen to the Safety Brief prior to departure and to conduct themselves in an orderly manner.

Alcohol Restrictions apply on Palm Island and passengers are only allowed
One (1) Carton of Light Beer per ticketed passenger. only one carton of light beer is allowed per vehicle, regardless of the number of passengers travelling. (Walk-on passengers are able to take their carton)

Our Landing Barge 'Olympic' has a carrying capacity of 70 Tonnes. The deck dimensions are as follows:-

Internal Deck Width - 7.10 Metres

Door to Wheelhouse - 18.00 Metres

Height of Deck to Wheelhouse - 2.73 Metres

'Olympic' is available for charter to Contractors who require Prime-Mover and Semi-Trailers to be transhipped to Palm Island. The barge waits for the truck to be unloaded on Palm Island before transshipment back to the mainland. The return trips can be facilitated within an 8 hour period which helps to reduce costs and double handling to Contractors.

Notice to Contractors

Day & Day Shipping has the flexibility to offer Contractors a later departure time, than that of the Scheduled Departure Time from Palm Island. This is subject to an hourly Demurrage Rate. For enquiries please contact our office.

Building Materials

Day & Day Shipping provides a daily Barge Service from Lucinda to Palm Island Monday to Saturday. Building Materials can be sourced from Ingham, Cairns and Townsville for transhipment to Palm Island.

Day & Day Shipping has the resources to increase services to Palm Island to facilitate the transhipment of large quantities of Building Materials including Demountable Buildings. When required we have the flexibility to operate 24 hours per day scheduling three trips in a 24 hour period to Palm Island.

Road Freight Townsville/Ingham; Cairns/Ingham

Day & Day Shipping owns and operates Road Transport Vehicles, which we utilize to transport freight from Townsville to Ingham.

Day & Day Shipping.have a depot in Townsville at  Unit 5/26-30 Lorna Court Bohle, Townsville Qld 4818  which accepts Dry Goods deliveries Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 4.30pm. For delivery to Palm Island the following day freight must be received between 8.30am and 12.30pm.

Day & Day Shipping. is able to supply and deliver the following Raw Materials to Palm Island:-

  • Brickies Loam
  • Drainage Rock
  • 20MM Aggregate

Chiller/Freezer Goods

In 2007 Day & Day Shipping expanded their services to Palm Island to include superior Cold Chain and Dry Goods Logistical Service direct from Townsville to the Palm Island Retail Store through our Quality Management Procedures and Processes.

Cold and Frozen Goods are to be delivered to Harbourside Coldstores at 304 Boundry Street, South Townsville by 4.00pm Mondays to be delivered to Palm Island on Tuesday.

Cold and Frozen Goods are delivered via our fully accredited fridge/freezer truck (Safe Food Accreditation number 122262-000). Our Quality Management Procedures detailed in our Food Safety Programme have proven that they ensure that each step of the Cold Chain Service is monitored and recorded for Quality Control which is integral to ensuring that the products are delivered in a premium condition.

All Cold & Frozen Goods are maintained in a controlled temperature environment that meet with HACCP Guidelines as follows:-

Fruit and vegetables are transported within a temperature range of 0 to +7 Degrees Celsius

Fresh meat is transported at a temperature of between +1 to +4 degrees Celsius

Refrigerated products are transported at a temperature not warmer than + 4 degrees Celsius

Frozen products are transported between -18 and -20 degrees Celsius.
