Palm Island Barge Company Pty Ltd

Palm Island Barge Company is family owned and operated. We operate two vessels, MV "Olympic" and "Lady Fraser",  with a daily service from the Port of Lucinda to Palm Island Monday to Friday and a monthly service to Orpheus Island. Palm Island and Orpheus Island are part of the Palm Group of Islands just south of Hinchinbrook Island. We also service Dunk and Bedarra Islands on demand.

Palm Island Barge Company operates from three depots. Our main office is located at Lot 392 Old Jetty Road, Lucinda. Townsville has a freight depot at 387 Bayswater Road, Garbutt, (behind Bradkin) to which freight is delivered for trucking to Lucinda and on Palm Island we have a depot where freight is held for customers on Palm Island.

Lucinda Office

Palm Island Barge Company's main office operates from Lot 392 Old Jetty Road, Lucinda, which is located 25 minutes drive east of Ingham. Office hours are Monday to Thursday 8.00am until 5.00pm and Friday 8.00am to 3.00pm.  Freight items delivered to this depot must have prior approval. Four highly capable staff work at this office and are always ready to be of assistance with any shipping requirements.

Townsville Office

Situated at 387 Bayswater Road, Garbutt, (behind Bradkin) our Townsville freight depot is centrally located to facilitate deliveries from small vans to semitrailers. We have a forklift capable of handling most lifts up to three tonne in weight. 

Palm Island Barge Company transports freight from our Townsville depot each week day to be delivered to Palm Island the next working day. Deliveries to our Townsville depot are accepted  Monday to Friday from 8.00am to 1.00pm. Please note that furniture and large fragile items (such as televisions) delivered to our Townsville depot will be shipped in our shipping container for protection and safety reasons, and this container will only travel when full.

Palm Island Office

Please note that your freight is delivered to our depot at Palm Island. We are able to deliver goods on Palm Island, please contact our Lucinda office to make arrangements.

Please collect your freight from the Palm Island depot between 2.00pm and 4.00pm Monday to Friday. This allows our staff enough time to sort and organise freight from the day's barge.

 

Vessels

MV "Olympic" and "Lady Fraser" are operated by up to four qualified Ship's Masters. 

Our deck staff  are fully qualified in First Aid and machine operation. All shipping staff have completed the Nationally Accredited Elements of Shipboard Safety course.

INSURANCE

Palm Island Barge Company is fully insured for public liability, plant and equipment, marine policies (including pollution) and Workers Compensation insurance as per legislative requirements.
